Ballerina mix
A light mix of vanilla yellow, lemon yellow, and golden yellow, with warm amber markings in the center of the flower.
The pansy is back in the spotlight, but it has never really stopped being a beloved classic. With its expressive flowers, beautiful color variations, and delicate growth habit, it is just as natural in modern plantings as in older garden traditions.
For this exclusive release, we have sourced unique pansy seeds from Italy. They are selected for those who want to grow something that feels both timeless and new.
Pansies look beautiful in pots, borders, and window boxes, but also alongside sweet peas, both in the garden and in a vase. An old favorite in a new, unusual rendition.
Since this is a seed mix, the colors may vary slightly in tone, shade, and distribution. That is part of the charm – each plant gets its own expression within the mix's color palette.

Care and cultivation advice
Fill a seed tray with potting soil. Lightly press down the soil and water thoroughly.
Place one seed in each hole. This takes a little time but yields the best results. Pansies are light-germinating, so the seeds should not be covered with soil.
Sprinkle a thin layer of vermiculite over the entire tray. Place the seedlings in a bright spot and keep the soil moist by misting daily. The seedlings can preferably be kept cool, for example, in an unheated bright space from early spring. It is important that the seeds are not too warm.
After approximately 14–20 days, the seeds will begin to germinate. Keep the seedlings moist at all times by misting the plants or by placing the entire seed tray in a larger seed tray with a little water at the bottom. Note that pansies are not aquatic plants, so they should not stand in water for extended periods.
When the weather seems favorable, the seedlings can be moved outdoors. Place them in partial shade and continue to keep them evenly moist. Pansies can tolerate a few degrees below freezing and even some snow.
After approximately 6–8 weeks, it's time to transplant the seedlings into fertilized potting soil. Plant one plug into a 7 cm pot filled with nutrient-rich soil. Keep the plants watered and let them stand in partial shade.
When the plants have grown and possibly started to show flower buds, it's time to plant them in a flower bed or pots. Plant them close together to get longer stems.
Be diligent with watering and remove faded flowers regularly, and the pansies will continue to bloom for a long time.
About our seeds
Our pansies are imported from Italy and are a new delight. The seeds are only available in a limited quantity.
Pansies are named after the Swedish botanist Veit Wittrock. He was the director of the Bergianska trädgården (Bergianska Garden) in Stockholm in the late 19th century and loved violets. Together with several botanist colleagues from Northern Europe, he wrote an extensive dissertation on violets which was published in 1892.
Pansies are called Viola x wittrockiana in Latin, honouring his name.
