About me

A long time ago I trained as a fashion designer at Beckmans School of Design. It has been an important foundation for everything I have done in my professional life, which has mainly been about theatre and crafts.

I have been gardening and plants in my spare time almost my entire life and it has become increasingly important over time. My almost 60-year passion for gardening, which began with a few cucumber seeds in my hand, has given me many fun encounters and moments, a lot of knowledge but no formal education. Just as well, because then I might have learned that what I did couldn't be done!

When I started my small business importing sweet pea seeds just over 10 years ago, I could never have imagined the enthusiasm it would be received with. Now, my waking hours are spent growing flowers, counting seeds, sending orders, photographing and writing texts.

I manage the Instagram account myself and there I can keep in touch with everyone out there who grows sweet peas. I write about what is most relevant for the day and sometimes other cool things that interest me.

About our seeds

For over ten years we have worked closely with English Sweetpeas and Phil Johnson, one of Europe's last specialist sweet pea seed growers and custodian of the prestigious National Sweetpea Collection, giving us access to a unique and extensive range, including both classic and rare sweet peas.

The seeds are hand-grown in greenhouses in Essex, an area with a deep tradition of sweet pea growing. The greenhouse environment allows for careful control of both varietal purity and maturity, ensuring seeds of the highest quality.

All work – from planting to harvesting – is done manually and with great care. Every year we travel to the plantations to follow the development of the season, discover new varieties and carefully select which ones will fit into our seed bags.

English Sweetpeas debuted at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2025 and was awarded a gold medal – a clear confirmation of the work and passion that goes into each seed.

Phil is also one of the authors of A World of Sweet Peas, which we are incredibly proud of.
